Please note that it may take some time to acquire all the needed documents - depending on your country of destination and which documents are required. Hence it is important to contact relevant authorities in advance.
 
Rights and duties of a researcher may vary, depending on things such as the research field and the type of contract with the institution in question.  It is also important to know what  does one agree to when for example signing a contract. Ethical issues, intellectual property rights and in some cases moving research material from one country to another are some of the things worth considering.

Social security
 
Social security benefits may differ depending on researcher's status. A research stay based on a fellowship (grant) and a research stay based on an employment contract are two instances which may create changes in social security rights in some countries.

Taxation
